Feather Room
SVA New York, 2004
“Feather Room” – project made of feathers. Summer Residency in SVA New York, 2004.
Both rooms (Sand room and Feather room) stand together side by side. Project is about life and death. I made the project during summer residency program at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan – the place connected with Eva Hesse, who used to work there as lector before she died on brain cancer, at the age of 35. Paradoxically, illness of Eva Hesse has encouraged her to ambitious, intensive work. Hesse has made thousands of minimal installations from strings, and plastics. Students of Eva Hesse from SVA were helping to complete Hesse’s works, at the stage when she was unable to continue them any farther.
