Welcomed by Twilight – Powitany przez Zmierzch (2014)
The quotation from the poem of Thomas Venclova, Lithuenian poet.
Installation was a part of Close Stranger project, cooperation between art institutions and artists from Klaipeda, Kaliningrad and Gdańsk.
Ephemeral installation was made of transparent tulle and fishing nets, gently hooked along the river promenade. The form brings to mind structure of veil, spider webs or unswept dust.
I chose the fragment of the poem of Lithuanian poet Tomas Venclova: „I was welcomed by twilight and cold”. To me, past is the twilight, old people memories were marked by experience of displacement and tragic fate of world war II.
